What are the benefits of increasing your reading speed? Most people read at an
average rate of 250 words per minute. Just 100 words per minute more means an improvement
of 40%. That is equal to being able to read 12 more books a year! Take advantage
of this opportunity and invest in a skill that lasts for a lifetime. *"Speed Reading
is not magic"* is self-instructing software that uses computer-generated visual
exercises to help you move past the perceptual habits of slower readers and become
familiar with the more effective perceptual strategies and skills of faster readers.
Presentation of the "Magic Speed Reading" course
The Magic speed reading software is based upon the following principles:
Understanding the purpose of your reading.
Using your peripheral vision.
Reading without sub-vocalizing words.
Paying attention to the main idea of the text.
Psychological sublimation before reading.
Also keep in mind alternatives to reading:
Using a web forums.
Using an Internet search engine.
Taking advice from a specialist.
Finding a master and following him.
Trying to resolve your problem without reading (or speed reading).
Trying to invent a new approach to solving the problem.
The text is cut into small pieces. Each piece flashes up in the center of the
computer screen. Concentrate your view on the central point of the screen. Try to
read the flashing text without concentrating on one spot.

from the "Speed reading is not magic" course.
Lets imagine a little: Why is a line in a text placed as it is in books and newspapers?
Why don't we put the line of text into a convenient order. This software cuts the
text into short fragments. Each fragment is put in a separate window. A red point
is placed in the center of each window. Whilst you are reading, be aware of the
points. Click here for more information about the reading
in windows technique from our "Speed reading is not magic" course.
This software helps you to master the algorithm of speed-reading: Finding keywords,
making semantic rows, defining the most important (dominant) parts of the text.
Click for here more information about the "online dominant
technique"
"Shultz Tables" exercises for expanding your peripheral vision
Shultz tables develop peripheral vision. Gently anchor your focus on the center
of the screen. Do not concentrate your view on one spot, and count all the numbers
in the field (1,2,3,etc) Click here for more information about Shultz tables from our "Speed reading is not magic"
course. Shultz table flash online
program.
"Angle of Vision" technique to expand your peripheral vision
This software is designed to expand your peripheral vision. People with a wider
peripheral vision can read faster. This software shows only a portion of the information
so you cannot read it all at once. You can notice the numbers in the corner of your
eyes. Two numbers flash on both sides of a central line. Try to remember them. Use
your keyboard to enter these numbers. If your entry is correct the software will
make the task harder, and the distance between the numbers will be increased. If
your answer is wrong, the distance between the numbers will be decreased.

technique from our "Speed reading is not magic" course.
The "Counting the amount of letters with one glance" technique, which develops
concentration
The letters are shown on your computer screen in chaotic order. Count up the
letters of a certain type and use your keyboard to type in their quantity. This
exercise develops a persons ability to find information. Click here for more information
about the Counting the amount of letters technique
from our "Speed reading is not magic" course.
"Find the word in the text" technique
This software develops your ability to read selectively. In order to read selectively,
you need to develop the ability to find key words as quickly as possible. This software
develops that skill - you don't need to read all the text to get the main idea.
Click here to find the word in the text from
our "Speed reading is not magic" course.
In order to increase your attention span, read the complex texts, or read the
text from right to left. This software reverses the order of the letters so that
you must read from right to left. Click here for more information about the Reading text right to left exercises from our "Speed
reading is not magic" course.
Commuter exercises "Randomly removed letters from the text"
A text always consists of some superfluous information (superfluous letters,
superfluous words and superfluous sentences). Also, sometimes the entire text can
be superfluous. This software deletes some letters in the words. You can read this
text at high speed only. Forget about slow speed-reading. Click here for more information
about the exercises with Randomly removed letters
from our "Speed reading is not magic" course.
"Replace blanks in the text" technique
This technique develops your ability to concentrate. Another aim of these exercises
is to make you understand how you read. While doing the exercises, think about how
you find and recognize the words. Can you recognize two words at a time? Can you
read the text without blanks? The software deletes all blanks from the text. You
need to restore all the blanks as it was originally.

in the text" technique from our "Speed reading is not magic" course
Metronome
The software can be used to develop two techniques:
Elimination of sub-vocalization exercises.
Metronome speed-reading exercises.
The rhythm in the first exercise can help you to eliminate the habit of sub-vocalization
words during reading. Try to learn the rhythm and use your hand (including forearm)
to knock out the beat. At the same time read the text. The second exercise helps
you to jump your eyes from one word to another with each stroke of the metronome.

course.

"Mixed letters" training
The software changes the position of two letters in each word. Maybe you will
notice that you can read the mixed text only at high speed. People usually do not
read words by their individual letters, but recognize them wholly (as a hieroglyph).
Click here for more information about the "Mixed letters" computer exercises from
our "Speed reading is not magic" course
The software removes all vowels from the text. Ancient Greek and present-day
Arabic do not use vowels. I gss you cn rd ths txt :) wtht vwls. The exercises show
that vowels in texts are redundant. Even with the absence of 1/3 of the information
(the vowels) you can still understand the text. Click here for more information
about Reading without vowels from our "Speed
reading is not magic" course
Assistant of the reader "Ideas and texts systematization"
The "Text Systematization" - is a hierarchical text editor. This software is
designed for storage and systematization of ideas, facts, texts and html files.
It is not enough just to read the text; it is important to extract useful facts
and ideas from it.
Click here for more information about the Assistant of the reader "Ideas
and texts systematization" online training from our "Speed reading
is not magic" course.
Computer assistant "Text frequency analyzer"
Would you like to have a list of the words of a text? This software helps you
to do this. The software moves words from a text into a list. You can read the list
of words and check for yourself whether you know them or not. You can use this software
to select the words which you need to find in the text. Letter-by-letter analysis
can help you to find unexpected associations that are connected with a text. For
instance, analysis of this (current) text shows that the letter-combination "words;
thought; anal*" occurs more than 10 times. This can be used for finding similar
texts in an Internet search engine.
Click here for more information about the Computer assistant "Text
frequency analyzer" training from our "Speed reading is not magic"
course
Computer training "Select seven semantic blocks in the text"
Systematizes paragraphs and restores the initial meaning. You can add new categories,
delete texts that are not needed, and build a tree of paragraphs so that it contains
not more then seven levels (branches). The human mind can't operate with more then
seven blocks of information. Whilst you are reading, try to select no more than
seven semantic blocks, key words or key ideas.
About the author of the software "Speed Reading is not magic"
The original idea of the software, the texts, and the program design are by Serge
Mikhailov. I am the author of the book ("Speed-reading is not a shamans") which
was published in Russia. I am the owner of self-growth Internet workshop in Russia.
As a result of my research I designed this computer training program for improving
speed-reading. If you have any comments or suggestions about this speed-reading
program, please contact me by Email.
I guarantee that if you spend 20 minutes every other day for at least two weeks,
you will double your reading speed. It's that easy. Imagine in two weeks being able
to read twice as fast as you currently do; with improved comprehension and recall.
The first step in becoming a speed reader is to differentiate between less efficient
and speed reading skills. When learning to read, we are taught to read aloud, or
to vocalize each word as we read. As we get older, we are expected to read silently.
